'Whaler's End'

A piece from my SCRIMSHAW collection: this ring depicts nature fighting back (and in this case winning) against man and whalers. 
The piece is made from fully recycled silver, rolled out from an ingot to make the band and the top plate was made by hammering a melted blob. I love the organic texture and shape provided by the recycled plate, especially as a background to the engraving. 
A proper sturdy and weighty piece, this comes in at a SIZE U and is perfect for everyday wear. Most of the ring has a satin finish but the top plate and the chamfered edges have been given a high polish.

As always, this is hand engraved and inspired by the Scrimshaw of old, originally etched by sailors to kill time on voyages.
